About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller based in the US to join our growing finance team. This is a critical leadership role where you will take charge of overseeing Obol’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across all functions. You’ll manage the accounting team, lead financial reporting processes, and develop strategic financial models to guide our decision-making as we scale. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial health and growth of Obol while playing an integral part in defining our financial strategies and operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Financial Leadership: Lead and oversee all financial operations within Obol, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Accounting Oversight: Manage the monthly close process, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborate with leadership to develop and refine financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support Obol’s strategic goals.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and reporting standards, including tax filings, audits, and financial statements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing finance team, offering mentorship and professional development opportunities to junior team members.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for financial process improvements and implement systems to streamline operations, reduce risk, and ensure scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Operations to align financial strategies with the company’s broader goals and growth trajectory.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a proven track record in financial management in a SaaS or fintech environment. CPA or equivalent qualifications are a plus.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team, drive cross-functional initiatives, and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial processes, compliance, and reporting, with a strong ability to identify and solve financial challenges in a growing company.
  • Analytical Mindset: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex financial data, transforming it into actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where priorities can shift rapidly, and the ability to scale finance operations as the company grows.
